8:00 - 9:00 AM
Drop-off
The children arrive for the day & are greeted at the door. We hang their jackets and put their shoes in their cubby, then wash hands and head into the kitchen for breakfast.
9:00 - 10:00 AM
Breakfast & Free Play
Today's breakfast is hot, homemade oatmeal with the children's choice of toppings. Favorite toppings include cinnamon, fresh berries & Sunbutter. When the children are finished eating, they are free to play.
10:00 - 10:45 AM
Circle Time & Snack
Even the youngest children join us for circle time, where we sing our greeting song & discuss today's weather.
In keeping with our Safari theme, today we read about elephants. It's also a great time to talk about one of our letter of the month - E. We end circle time by stomping around and making noise like elephants, then we eat a snack of yogurt & mango.
10:45 - Noon
Outdoor Time
It's winter, but we all bundle up for some fresh air. The kids enjoy playing in the snow that fell the day before.
12:00 - 1:00 PM
Lunch
Everyone eats and socializes together in the kitchen. Lunch today is Felsy's famous lentils with chicken, carrots & butternut squash. Toddlers & up help to clean up.
1:00 - 3:00 PM
Naptime
The toddlers & older children settle into their mats in the main classroom, while the babies go sleep in their assigned cribs in a separate sleeping space.
After naptime, the kids gather for a snack. Today they are having Annie's Organic Bunnies with cucumber.
3:30 - 5:00 PM
Craft Project/Free Play
In the summer months, we'd head back out into the backyard, but since it is nearly dark in the wintertime now, the babies are having free play indoors while the young toddlers and up are doing a Safari-related project at the table. Today, the children are making elephant masks to go with our elephant book from this morning. The little ones use finger paint to decorate, while the older ones practice cutting and gluing construction paper onto their masks.
Parents come to pick up their children. Lots of hugs & stories of the day are shared.
